Los Angeles, California, USA
quintet
was assembled
in 1987 from the remnants of several local club circuit rock
groups. Comprising Joe LeSte (vocals), Mark Knight (guitar), secured a
contract with MCA Records. This
followed the release of a highly regarded live mini-album that the group
partly financed themselves. Initially, they fostered a sleazy, low-life
image and incorporated influences such as Aerosmith and the Cult. This
manifested itself on Psycho Cafe, a refreshingly honest, but slightly
offbeat, hard rock album that was characterized by LeSte's laconic vocal
style. Dancin' On Coals, released in 1991, indicated that the group had
matured remarkably in two years. It featured a greater degree of musical
sophistication, including soulful and more blues-based material. Apparently
poised for international success and recognition, the group left MCA for
the Music For Nations independent, revitalizing their career with the
self-proclaiming New Generation. Love After Death, its 1995 follow-up,
featured Nicky Hopkins on one of his last session appearances, adding
piano to "1000 Goodbyes". Now Joe is taking Bang Tango back
on the road. Are you ready to rock because they are.
